We’ve got right behind the Rock Trust’s annual Kilt Walk in a determined effort to make this year’s event the best ever. Why? It is too easy to forget that even a city as successful and beautiful as Edinburgh has so many young homeless people – damaged by home and family, low in confidence and without the kind of contacts we all take for granted. The Rock Trust doesn’t just house youngsters it practices them in the life skills needed to make their own productive lives.

We can’t think of a better investment – that’s why the Kilt Walk is such an important date in the calendar. Put 22 August in your diary, get sponsorship backing, flash some tartan and walk twice round Edinburgh Castle. You’ll be joined by performers from the Fringe and Tattoo, hear live bands and get a chance to dance to the tune of the Ceilidh. It all kicks off at 11.00am at the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens.
